TERMS OF BUSINESS
Terms of business
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Bound to build is the web design brand of Bound by Iris. These terms explain how Bound by Iris ("we", "us") builds and looks after websites for you ("you", the client). Bound by Iris is run by Ben Anderson, trading as Bound by Iris (Bound to build), a sole trader based in Stalybridge, SK15. You can reach us at hello@boundtobuild.co.uk or 07463 176554.
If anything here isn't clear, please ask before you pay the deposit. We'd much rather answer questions up front.
1. How you accept these terms
- We'll send you a written quote that sets out exactly what we're building, the price and the rough timescale.
- Quotes are valid for 30 days.
- Paying the deposit means you accept the quote and these terms. If something in your quote is different from these terms, the quote wins.
2. What's included
Your quote lists exactly what you're getting. Current prices are on our pricing page. As a guide, our standard packages are:
| Package | What's included |
|---|---|
| One-page site | One scrolling page built for mobile, contact form, map / click-to-call, basic on-page SEO, a link to your Google Business Profile and one round of changes. |
| Small business site (3–5 pages) | Home, About, Services (1–2 pages) and Contact. Help with the wording, local SEO basics, contact form, Google Business Profile setup, one round of changes and 14 days of support after launch. |
| Extra page | One extra standard page (for example a service, area or gallery page) added to any site. |
| Google Business Profile setup | Claiming or verifying your profile, setting categories, services, hours and photos, and linking it to your website. |
| Care plan (monthly) | Hosting, SSL certificate, backups, updates, uptime monitoring and up to 30 minutes of small edits a month. See section 9. |
Anything not listed in your quote (for example online shops, booking systems, logo design, copywriting from scratch, paid photography or extra pages) is extra. We'll always tell you the price and get your OK before doing any extra work.
3. Payment
All payments are by UK bank transfer. Our bank details are on every invoice. Please use the invoice number as your payment reference.
- 50% deposit before work starts. We'll book you in and start once the deposit has arrived in our account. The deposit is non-refundable (see section 11 for the exceptions).
- 50% balance before the site goes live. When your site is ready, we'll send you a preview link and the balance invoice. The balance is due within 7 days, and the site goes live (or is handed over to you) once it has been paid.
- Care plan: paid monthly in advance by bank transfer or standing order (see section 9).
- Domain names: you pay the registration fee at cost, with no mark-up (see section 10).
- VAT: Bound by Iris is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.
4. Changes (revisions)
- Each package includes one round of changes. That means you look over the preview and send us one list of everything you'd like changing, and we make those changes.
- Changes must be within the agreed scope. Tweaks to wording, pictures, colours and layout are fine. A brand-new page or a new feature is extra work.
- Further rounds of changes, or anything new, will be quoted before we do it.
- Our promise: If the first preview doesn't match what we agreed in the written quote, I'll put it right at no extra cost. (This doesn't change the deposit, which stays non-refundable. See section 11.)
5. Your part: content and timescales
To build your site on time, we'll need things from you, such as text, photos, your logo, opening hours, prices and logins (for example your domain or Google account).
- Please send everything we ask for within 14 days of paying the deposit, and reply to preview links within 14 days.
- When you'll see your preview: the first preview comes within 5 working days for a one-page site, or 10 working days for a 3–5 page site, counted from when you send us your content.
- Our timescales start once we have everything we need. If content arrives late, the launch date moves back too.
- You confirm that you have the right to use everything you send us (photos, logos, text) and that it's accurate and legal. Please check all your business details (name, address, phone number, prices) before you approve the site.
6. If you go quiet
Life gets busy, we understand. But we can't leave projects open forever.
- If we haven't heard from you for 30 days after we've asked for something, we'll put your project on hold and let you know.
- If we still haven't heard from you 60 days after that first request, we may close the project. The deposit is kept to cover the time spent and the slot we reserved.
- If your site was already finished and just waiting for your approval, we'll send you the balance invoice and the site will go live once it's paid.
- Restarting a project that's been on hold or closed depends on our availability and may need a new quote.
7. Going live and support after launch
- We'll only put your site live once you've approved it and the balance has been paid.
- The 3–5 page site includes 14 days of support after launch. If something we built isn't working as it should, tell us and we'll fix it free of charge. On any package, if something isn't working because of a mistake on our part, we'll put it right.
- New changes after launch are covered by the care plan (up to 30 minutes a month) or quoted separately.
8. Who owns what
- Once you've paid in full, the website is yours. That includes the design, the wording and the images we created for your site.
- Until then, the work belongs to us and we won't put it live or hand it over.
- Some parts of a site come from other companies, such as themes, plugins, fonts or stock photos. They stay under those companies' own licences. We'll only use items that are licensed for your use.
- We'd love to show your site in our portfolio and on our social media. If you'd rather we didn't, just tell us.
9. Care plan (hosting and upkeep)
- The care plan is £25 a month, paid in advance. It starts on the day your site goes live.
- It includes hosting, an SSL certificate (the padlock), regular backups, software updates, uptime monitoring and up to 30 minutes of small edits a month. Unused minutes don't roll over to the next month. Bigger jobs will be quoted separately.
- Rolling monthly, cancel any time. Just let us know in writing (email is fine) before your next payment date. We don't refund part months. Your plan runs to the end of the month you've already paid for.
- When you leave, we'll give you a copy of your website files or help move the site to a new host. If moving the site takes a lot of work, we'll tell you the cost first. Please remember that once hosting ends, your site will go offline unless it has been moved.
- If a care plan payment is more than 14 days late, we'll remind you, and we may then pause the plan or take the site offline until it's paid.
- We use trusted hosting providers, but we can't promise the site will never go down. If it does, we'll work to get it back online as quickly as we can.
10. Domain names
- Your domain (for example yourbusiness.co.uk) is registered in your name so it always belongs to you.
- You pay the registration and renewal fees at cost, with no mark-up from us.
- If we manage the domain for you, we'll remind you before renewals are due. If a domain isn't renewed it can be lost, so please keep your contact details with the registrar up to date.
11. Cancelling and refunds
- You can cancel the project at any time by telling us in writing.
- The deposit is non-refundable because it covers the time we've reserved and the work we've already started.
- If you cancel after the site is finished, or almost finished, we may charge a fair amount for the work done, up to the full price.
- Domain fees or other third-party costs we've paid on your behalf aren't refundable.
- We may end the work if a client is abusive or keeps paying late. If that happens, we'll charge only for the work done and refund anything left over.
- If you're buying as a private individual (not for a business): you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of agreeing to the work. If you ask us to start within those 14 days and then cancel, you'll pay for the work done up to that point. These terms don't take away any of your legal rights as a consumer.
12. Late payment
- If an invoice isn't paid on time, we'll pause work and won't put the site live or hand anything over until it's paid.
- For business clients, we may charge interest on late payments at 8% a year above the Bank of England base rate, as allowed by the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
13. Our liability
- We'll do the work with reasonable care and skill.
- Our total liability to you for a project is limited to the amount you've paid us for that project. For the care plan, it's limited to the fees you've paid in the last 12 months.
- We're not responsible for indirect losses such as lost profits, lost business or lost data. That includes losses caused by things outside our control, such as hosting company outages, Google changes, third-party plugins or problems caused by changes someone else makes to the site.
- We can't guarantee search rankings or a particular number of enquiries.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else that can't legally be limited, and none of this affects your legal rights as a consumer.
14. Your data
- We only use your details (name, contact details, business information) to do your project, send invoices and keep in touch about your site. We don't sell your data or pass it on, except where it's needed to run your site (for example to your hosting company or domain registrar) or where the law requires it.
- We follow UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
- If your website collects visitors' details (for example through a contact form), you're responsible for that information and for having a privacy notice on your site. We can add a simple one if you send us the details. While we host your site, we'll keep that information secure and only use it to run the site.
- We'll keep your project records for as long as we need to for accounting and legal reasons, then delete them.
15. General
- We may update these terms from time to time. The version you accepted applies to your project. For the care plan, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice of any changes.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
- If there's ever a problem, please talk to us first. We'll always try to sort things out fairly and quickly.
